Jones Wood Products
Ben (the owner) has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine in Wood Science and Technology. This has turned out to be an excellent base of knowledge to pull from as the business has grown and expended. His many years of industry experience have allowed us to offer specialized solutions to clients and their projects.
Jones Wood Products is the only sawmill in central New Hampshire to offer this combination of services and specialized knowledge.
Logs: We hand select the correct hardwood and softwood logs for our products. Logs chosen for quarter sawn hardwood flooring are very different than logs chosen for boxed heart and center cut timbers.
Sawing: To ensure grade, quality and that the exact rough product is produced, we saw all of our own rough stock/lumber and timbers. Each board and timber are graded as they come off of the mill.
Air dry: Rough boards and timbers are set to air dry. We aim to get air dry wood close to 20% moisture content before it enters the kiln.
Kiln Dry: Our kilns finish drying the lumber to the exact specified moisture content for their intended use.
Edge: Once the rough material has been kiln dried, we edge it and do a grade and quality check before it goes to the planer.
Plane: In the final step, our four head moulder planer can take the kiln dried, edged boards and produce a final product that is ready for use.
Build, Install, Enjoy: We love to see the end result of your hard work. Bring us your vision and let us work hard with you to leave a legacy, a mark on history behind for everyone to enjoy.
If you are building furniture, installing a floor or erecting a timber frame house or barn we realize that his might be a once in a lifetime event. If built correctly these pieces of work can last generations.
Quarter sawn flooring is probably some of the most fun to run through the planer because you get to see the wood really come to life.
